straight 6 burning oil.
Okay so I have an 84 f150 with a 4.9 straight 6 all stock rebuilt Carter yf single barrel. Replaced the basics fuel pump plugs wires cap and rotor ect...problem is cylinders three and five have had a noticabke amount of oil every time I pulled the plugs. It's getting bad and even caused my most recent plugs to have this burned crud on them like caked on. I was thinking to pour a little motor flush into those two cylinders to try and loosen up the rings. Dumb idea? Any better ideas or advice would be much appreciated. Trying to save money here lol.

Take a hot compression test, wait overnight and take a cold compression test, compare and rebuild the motor if needed, most probably needed as the pistons, rings and cylinder bore are bad in those areas.

Our 95 has some oil use, enough to foul regular copper plugs in less than 10k miles. Installed Motorcraft single platinum plugs and at 30k it was getting a bit harder to start so time for new plugs. Some of the plugs had 1/4" of carbon on the ground strap but continued firing very well. Chances are you'll have to live with the oil use and this is how I'd do it.
