Default Spark Plug gap question

2015 2.7 eco, Spark plug gap is 0.30. I am wondering if it would help in increasing performance and MPG If I gap the plugs at 0.28, would that cause any hiccups with the engine, Predetenation knock etc.
First time I changed plugs the gap was tighter than 0.30. Does Ford gap at .28 to give it a bit more pep from the factory
Any one played with different gaps on plugs

You might try reposting in the "late model" section since this is the pre 97 section. Myself, I set the gap to specs.and I doubt .002 will make any difference.I assume you mean 0.030.
