Default 300

My first new truck was a 1979 F150 300 3 speed Lwb deluxe seat and step back bumper....ran for every thru 3 owners....I drove it 9 years. My next was a 1988 F150 XLT 300 5 speed LWB a/c tilt cruise carpet drove it 7 years and it is still on the road. Next was a 1995 300 automatic XL SWB a/c tilt cruise only drove it a year 36,000 miles and sold it....still running around two with the second owner....these three trucks have a total of a million plus miles.....the 79 had a motor change and it went 500,000 + before quitting.....love my 4.6 V8 now with 236,000 miles but don't really like my 5.4 3V with 165,000 miles....would buy a new inline 300 in a heart beat.....

My dad had a 85 f150 with the 6 cylinder power house and that thing was a tank. All it had done was 3.73 gears beefed up driveshafts and a LSD in the rear. I remember him tearing down this big *** two story barn in the middle of this muddy field. Loaded his 8ft bed past the cab and our 16ft trailer loaded down past full. Locked his front hubs in, pulled it into 4hi, and stuck it in first gear. Truck never spun a tire and just crawled away. It would even up-root 35ft air stream campers burried up to the bottom of the door. Man I miss that truck

I think everyone knows all about my 95 300. I've got everything perfect except for the ac compressor that needs changing and a paint job. 2 high dollar fixes probably won't be fixed anytime soon. I'm hoping to get my on board air setup going soon and still want to do the MSD coil and high performance wires. I just got my new windshield and next pay day I'm going to try to get my windshield graphic done....."Straight Six 300c.i." across the top edge. I think it's going to look sharp. I've got my body decals picked out too.......

Toughest gas engine ever created without a doubt, but the 7.3L Powerstroke and 5.9L Cummins engines can take a pounding and run forever as well with minor maintenance.

I think the 7.3 is stronger diesel in pickups. But the toughest diesel engine out there is caterpillar. IMO

Diesels are freaking great, but if any parts break, or things go wrong they cost a fortune! The 4.9 is cheap, reliable and powerful. Most bang for your buck forsure
