The one that's in it now.
The more you mess with it, the less-reliable it will be. My '95 4.9L came from a truck that was wrecked so hard, it ripped off the engine mounts & collapsed the Y-pipe against the crossmember. All the accessory brackets were shattered by smashing against the radiator. But the engine was still factory-sealed, so I dropped it into my '83 Bronco (after bolting on replacement JY brackets, accys, & Y-pipe). I guess it had around 80Kmi when it was wrecked, based on the condition of the truck, and that it sat in the JY for ~1yr before I bought it. That was over 20 years ago. It now has somewhere close to 850Kmi (yes, nearly a million) hard miles on it. Wheeling, towing, speeding on the highway (I have a couple of 3-digit tickets). But I maintain it thoroughly, and I still haven't opened it up, other than to change the pan, VC, & side gaskets.
