96 4.9 overheats when I use AC
Whenever I try to use the AC my engine starts heating up like crazy but when I turn it off the temp goes back down to normal. Could I have a compressor going bad or would it be something deeper?

Depends when it overheats, highway or city type driving. If at highway, suspect water flow problem with radiator . If during stop and go, look at fan clutch, missing/rotted/ blocked radiator and or condensor fins. When hot and engine off, spin the fan, it shouldn't be free wheeling. Don't overlook the cheap part such as the thermostat.
