Hook the fuel pressure gauge back up to the truck and with the engine running pull off the vacum line that runs to the fuel pressure regular if the gauge reads high its the regulator if its low its the pump. Also when you pull of the vacum line going to the fuel pressure regular look to see if its wet with gas thats another sign of a bad fuel pressure regular.

One interesting thing happened though. I let the truck die when I was trying to remove the damn vacuum line. The pressure never dropped below 20 psi and it still cut out and died...like the engine was getting zero gas. Makes me the think the regulator is bad.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

Ok, so I was finally able to get the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator. When I pulled it the truck didn't seem to change. The pressure was already dropping slowly and it continued to do so at the same rate. Plus there was no fuel in the line.
Seems like this is pretty clear based on your checks that the fuel pump needs to be replaced. I'm going to order one tonight and then replace it when it comes in. I going to order the high pressure external pump. I guess if I am still having issues I replace the low pressure in the tank pump. Unless anyone knows a way to tell which one is faulty.
Thanks,
Don

With what your telling me its the high presure pump the truck want run with the low pressure
Pump alone. If it was mine I'd change the high pressure pump and make sure you have a good Fuel filter on the truck too. Good luck

Man i hate to hear that, can you hear any noise out of the back pump? Check to see if you have power going to the back pump? If you have power to the pump its probable bad.

Well I was finally able to replace the pump in the tank over the weekend. And it worked, the truck fired over and ran well. Very thankful for your help!
I do have a weird thing now though. The 'Check Engine' light is now off but my truck has an 'Engine' light that is still on. I checked to see if any codes were available, but there weren't any. Not sure what can cause it.
Again, thanks for all the help.
