Default Wiring past the firewall

Im installing new fogs and im trying to find the best way past the firewall (2013 f150). Ive read through the forum and found the most popular spot (passenger side behind the glove box) but i also found a bigger spot on the driver side right behind the pedals. (Pics in next post). Has anyone used this spot for wires? It seems kinda close to the engine and i would hate to start melting stuff.

If you look on the right hand side of the brake fluid container there is another grommet that has a wiring harness going through it into the cab. That's the one I used and I haven't had any issues.

Did you cut it open a little more or did you just push the wire through the same hole?

The rubber was kinda tough so i heated up a razor blade and slid it through the edge of it and made a little place to put the wires
