Default Waterproof LED Strip Lights

Hey all,

Does anyone here have any experience with the waterproof LED strips? I am curious as to their longevity. I live in the Toronto area, so even though we don't get the snow we use to, I am always up north. So I wonder how well they will handle the abuse from the snow, & slush.
I am thinking of mounting them up underneath the running boards as puddle lights. I could fabricate a Plexiglas sheet to cover up the hollow underside of the running board. But with the cheap cost of these Chinese EBay strips I really don't think it's worthwhile. I have never worked with these lights before and any advice y'all can offer would be appreciated.

The other question I have is for another project I am considering. I am thinking of doing some hidden lighting up underneath the dashboard. Once these strips are cut to size, are you able to solder new leads to scrap cuts to utilize the material?

Thanks in advance...
Mike

Thanks, do you think the strips will hold up to direct exposure to water, salt, snow, & slush?

That would be an excellent question for superbright's technical services department, give them a call tomorrow and they should be able to help!

I just bought some led strip lights from superbright Leds and they are good quality. I haven't had any problems with them

Thanks, hopefully this won't be a waste.
I would love to hear from someone who has placed them in a spot where they are directly exposed to the winter elements. I am going to go with crappy ebay strips and see how they hold up to the elements this winter season. That way it's not a big loss if they don't. Hopefully if the connections are done proper they should do just fine.

Just take a small tube of silicone and seal up any possible spots where you think water and salt will penetrate. If you do that I think you'll be okay!
