I recently wanted to try out the Morimoto LED kit and see how they stack up to HID headlights. I ordered the D2S version. The problem is.... I can't get them secured in place because of the giant fan thing (yellow arrow pointing at it in the first picture) on the back of the bulb. The retainer ring (whatever you call it) ends up rubbing up against the "fan thing" on the back of the LED bulb and I can't get them to tighten down all the way.

Does anyone else know a way to secure these things?
Are those the Morimoto 2-stroke LED bulbs, I didn't have any problems installing them in the Mori mini D2S 3.0. The LED's in the picture doesn't look like the D2S base.

I did a quad projector retrofit with mini D2S 3.0, with HID's for hi/low beams, and LED for dedicated high beam only, Pics below show how the 2-stroke compare to CBI HID bulbs with shields flipped up for hi beams. Camera was set to under expose the image with manual exposure settings, same exposure settings on both pictures.

IMO stick with HID.

I gotta be honest... both those output shots don't look that great. Looks like light is being scattered

Yeah mine are the D2S version. That was just the stock pic pulled from a website. I'm going to send them back and stick with HID for now.

Here's an output shot of my setup now. It's very wide and lots of light.

Hey dave... would this work for you... as I mentioned earlier, the ability to take off the base of the bulb, so you could mount it behind your plastic retainer ring, then you can slide the bulb into the ring and it snaps in... here is an H7 bulb as an example. This can be done with ALL of our bulbs (on some models you remove the set screw first, on others like the H7 and D2/D4 you just PULL it off)

Headlights, since we are talking about headlights. Unless you have your factory housing retrofitted in which case I assume you were without them for a length of time. I would stick with the CBI's over the LEDs. From my research, HID bulbs still outperform LED bulbs in a projector.

Oh ok. I still have two other sets of headlights I've been meaning to sell. Neither of them are retrofits though. One set is the the Anzo Ubar and the other set is the Spyder Ubar.
