Third Brake Light Disassembled for LED Mod

I, for one, took my 3rd brake light apart successfully this weekend with the intention to paint just the reflector area black. But no matter what, it still looked to bright on my black truck so I indeed up just adding a light coat of spray tint on the outside...so opening it up was pretty pointless, and pretty difficult.
Anyway, I don't see how this would be too hard once you get the light open/apart. There's quite a few LED aftermarket units on eBay, but everything I've read on them say that the LEDs go out after a month or two. If you get quality LEDs in there, I think it would look awesome

I noticed it dripping after a automatic car wash actually on the driver side rear door sill. tried to get it covered under warranty but they denied my claim. Ford offered a updated high mount lense for over 100$, since I want a darker lenses I will get one for a fx4 or something. Thanks.
