If you hardwire the bar does the computer think you have a trailer connected?

I hard wired mine....no it did not. I don't recall the exact wires but none of my wires I spliced into are connected to the trailer brake so does not sense it as a trailer.

Did you tap into the tail light or the 4 pin trailer connection? I was thinking about getting the 5 function version of the bar and tapping into the 7 pin receiver.

I tapped into the 7 pin harness. My lightbar was full function. Running light (I did not wire that) brake light, right and left scanning turn signal and white light when in reverse. I also had to wire the 12v+ for my light bar in the 7 pin harness.

Thanks for the info, that's definitely the route I'm going as well.

Yea you will still have full functionality of the trailer hitch plug when you need to tow with out having to unplug the tailgate bar.

The bar from custom dynamics comes with a 4 pin trailer plug so you don't have to splice anything, just plug it in.

You can get either version...hardwired or with a trailer adapter.

I'd rather hardwire so the connections are concealed and I don't have to unplug it every time I'm pulling something that has a 4 pin harness.

Yea every light bar I researched had a 4 pin plug but for various reasons some people choose to hardwire them in. I hardwired mine since the 4 pin functionality did not operate all the features my light bar offered.

I have mine plugged into the trailer connector. No issues at all with trailer related concerns. I do unplug the bar when I am pulling a trailer.
