Looking good! Those are the same ones I finally ordered as my supplier wasent able to get the Anzo g2 assemblies with CCFL. Im just going to be upgrading my Spyders with HID's.

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough or not looking at the right place... Can somebody tell me what turns on for daytime running, low beam, and high beam on this light? I kinda figured the LED and the halo turns on for DRL? What does the projector and the other regular light looking one do on high and low beam? Thanks in advance.

Most light come with wiring that you can configure, so the lights turn on to your liking, either through factory switches or auxilury switches. Im not quite sure i understand your question. My projectors are set up so that when i turn my parking light on my leds and halos turn on only. Then when i switch my light on, it turns on the low beams, halos, and leds. High beams will only turn on when you flick your "bar" toward you(might be different for your vehicle). As for halos and leds being drls it will depend on the lights. Dont make the mistake i did. I bought projector dual halos that had "led drls" and led halo rings. Here is the problem. The "led drls" are only three little leds, so you can only see them at night. The halo rings are also leds(this is the important part). If you want your halo rings to act as a drl make sure you look for a projector light that has halos powered by CCFLs(cold cathode flourescent light). Despite what you might think, for a halo ring, these are much brighter then led, and they ignite the whole halo. Leds are designed to point straight out or head on, this is why they do not work with halo rings. So if you havnt already purchased this product in led make sure you get ccfls. I made the mistake and now have to go back and spend a couple hundred to get the ccfls.
Second option: if you like your headlights and dont want to replace them. Recon sells a very nice 6 inch x2 bar that is considered a drl light. Kind of what you would see on a mercedes near the front lower fender. Just a strip that adds flare.

Thanks a lot for the nice write up Skier. That is very helpful and I really appreciate it. I do plan on getting the CCFL version from spyder and put in HID's. I was also wondering what do the 2 lights inside the halo's do when you turn on the low beams or high beams.(from what I read these are supposed to be plug and play into the factory socket so not configurable?) To me one looks like a regular halogen light housing and the other looks like a factory HID projector light that has lens in it to focus the HID beam so it doesn't blind people. The headlights on my Grand Cherokee looks like that too and it uses the HID as low beam and the halogen for high beam. But the H1 bulbs that come with this light are meant for both high and low beams so do you have all 2 lights come on for both high and low beam or is it one for low beam one for high beam? I'm sorry if I couldn't make it clean but if I can get pics of the light on the vehicle with low beam on and with high beam on that'd help a lot too. Thanks again.

You are correct as to one being a normal housing and one being projector(at least mine are). They don't both light up to my knowledge when you switch from low to high beam, but i haven't checked. Plug and play for the high and lows i believe but if you get a housing with LEDs you will have to do a little wiring for the LEDs(i get them installed professionally). I would check all of this if i was near my vehicle, however i work on a yacht and while I'm in the northeast my truck is sitting in the southeast. I haven't figured out how to post photos to these boxes yet either. I also dont know if you cant put HIDs in this particular light, ive heard mixed things. Some people say you can, others say they burn up the housing. When i had these installed i had a set of HIDs from DDMtunning.com and my installer said they where to big to fit in the housing. You definitely should do some research on that before hand. Hope this helps.

Thanks again Skier you've been very helpful. I'll give Spyder a call tomorrow to find out if it'd work with HID's. The place I get my light bars from has projector headlights with HID option made by Sonar and I heard people saying this company supplies the parts for both recon and spyder. I'll look into that a little more too. Btw it took me quite a while to figure out how to post pics with the photobucket thing too... ;-)

Not sure if you have got a response from spyder yet but to answer your question. These assemblies will use seperate bulbs for high and low beams. HID's will work with the assembly, but if you are planning on doing high and lows in HID you will need two seperate HID kits. Majority tend to do only low beams in HID due to the time needed for these lights to reach full illumination and stick to a standard halogen bulb for high beams. I can't say whether or not they will melt the assemblies, they shouldn't, however I have read posts where some have said it has started to. I am still waiting for my spyder assemblies to arrive and once they come in I am going to install two 55w HIDs for high and lows which burn hotter than a reg 35w kit. If you are not in a rush I will post my results after a while of running them and if I run into any heat issues. As for high beams my personal opinion I would not go with HID's if you constantly switch between high and lo's, due to the increased burn out of the ballast, but thats up to you. Check my posts in the next couple of weeks if you want to see my results or I can PM you. I am no expert in this topic someone else on here may have a different opinion. Just mine from what I have been told from more experienced enthusiast.

Thanks a lot Williams it all make sense now. Since the H1's are high and low beam I just thought maybe the projector does both with a solenoid on the lens. But the projector does low beam and the other does high beam is actually how I like it. Thanks for bring up the HID warm up time that makes perfect sense for not using for high beams. I actually don't really care about the high beams anyway by the time I'm done the 600 and some watts of light from the light bars I'm putting on should go further than I can see... ;-) Just heard quite some comments about the low beam on these being pretty dim and figured HID would also match LED better. And another thought just came into my mind as I'm writing this, maybe I can try those silverstar halogen bulbs first since I'm only after the looks of these headlights...

I did get an answer from Spyder the guy said the housing would handle an HID no more than 35w. But doing so would void the warranty, which is only 90 days anyway. However I did hear some stories about Recon housing being burned by HID's...

I noticed your location is in Canada would you mind telling me where you got the lights from and how much did shipping set you back?

Thanks

Ya forsure! Post some pictures when you get all your lighting done. The assemblies will still fit a 55W kit. There is absolute no difference in the bulbs, just the ballasts which are mounted elsewhere anyways. I purchase a lot of my stuff from Grease Monkey Tuners out of Surrey, BC. John has always been good to me and runs a smaller outfit, so I like to support him. All his stuff he puts on Facebook check out this link if your interested https://www.facebook.com/greasemonkeytuners?fref=ts

Far as price goes I paid 370$ shipping included for a 2007 f150 black assemblies with CCFL Halos. You can probably get them cheaper from the states if you don't get charged to much for shipping and taxes when they come in.
