Default Smoked tail lights, now need brighter bulbs

First off, yes I know had I not gotten smoked tail lights, I wouldn't be in this situation. These were professionally done, not VHT, so they're not terribly dark, but I'd like them to be more noticeable during the day.

After doing some research, the stock bulb puts out around 400 lumens.

Some of the LED's I've been looking at on various sites (superbrightLEDs, diode dynamics, etc) only show light output of around 280 on the lower price range of what they offer.

I know lumens can be hard to measure, but what is my best bet for brighter than stock?

Hoping to find someone with real world experience.

These will be doing in my 2013 FX4.

Thanks!

Our XP80 replacements produce 510 lumens (measured)

Here's an example of the output on a Raptor:

Our HP11 and XP80 will be significantly brighter than OEM

Did I mention we are running our biggest sale of the year next week?

That's kind of why I've been holding off ordering anything like this

I get it, it looks cool. But why people do this is beyond me. I almost rear ended a truck last week that had blacked out tails and you literally couldn't see the brake lights at all.

I know the xp80 are expensive, but it's really worth it that you spend the money for safely reasons.

I have had tinted tails in the past. The look is great, the function not so much so. I decided when it comes to brake lights, I prefer function. To the OP, I hope you find your balance between the 2. It does look really good and you are on the right track to improve effectiveness.

Don't buy anything EXCEPT the XP80 bulbs from Diode Dynamic for reverse. They are WELL WORTH IT.

On my 2015+ I have dual 7" LED bars for reverse and NEVER use them, the XP80 bulbs I have are amazing.

With your application, being you'll use a 921 bulb, the XP80 are still bright, not as bright as the 3156 my 2105 uses, but still VERY bright. Pricey yes at $90 MSRP but check out our site on Black Friday weekend... 20% off across the board on All Diode Dynamics products. We're an authorized Diode Dynamics dealer.

With your smoked lights however even with the XP80 you will still have a tough time seeing, you should never smoke headlights or reverse lights. BUT what you can do is buy some LED pods/light bars. We have a Black Friday door buster going on for 4" and 7". Also... free 4" lights if you order our XHP kit (be one of the first 10 customers)... so if you need to upgrade your headlights, you may be able to get a free pair of 4" lights

My reverse were left clear.

I'm looking into buying tail/brake lights.
