posted 2 questions directly to 3M:

1) What is the optical clarity (passthrough %) of the material
2) Is there any risk of damage to the headlight surface due to removal

Will provide an update based on their answers.

Looking forward to your answers. I too am not interested in spending money on new headlights and having the light output adversely affected by a poor film covering.

Interesting dialog with 3M.

The Summary is: Use at your own discretion. 3M does not support their use on headlights. I did not get an answer on any removal issues - which is my fault because I forgot to ask.

Me:
Message = I am looking to purchase VentureShield to protect new Headlights for
my vehicle. I would like to know the optical properties (passthrough %) please
before making my purchase. Thanks in advance.

Response:
Hi JC,

Thank you for contacting 3M.

Paint Protection Film should not be applied to headlights or windshields. 3M
adheres to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards that do not allow the use
of film over headlights or windshields.

Me:
Thank you for the response. The film stated for use on headlights is being
sold on multiple sites. Please see the following site: http://
www.clearbra-kits.com/store/p...null&maincat=3

You will note in the description it states the “paint protecting film.” I
called them and verified it is the 3M VentureShield product. Are you saying
this film should not be used on headlights? Thank you for the clarity.

Response:
JC,

The films are not optically clear and being that the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards do not allow the use of film over headlights or windshields. Many companies does buy our film and use it for this purpose, we do not endorse it.
