Default Official Comprehensive LED thread.

This thread is for you to post up what you bought for your truck in regards to LED's. Let's put all the research in one thread. Took me a while to figure out what Led's to buy , what ones are best for backup, what works in your puddle lamps easily without mods etc.

I ordered all mine from dealextreme.
Here's what I bought.

backup

puddle

plate

3rd break light cargo lights

Anyway, I have seen a variety of different bulbs used.... This is what I ordered as far as I can remember and I had a few extras as well and it was $55 delivered ....

What's everyone else using and how do you like them/output etc?

Thanks.

Hope this thread can help a little.

Default Question

Thanks for gathering this info. I've got a 2013 KR and wondering if these will fit/enhance the OEM bulbs. Also, what are puddle lamps? Thx!

puddle lights are the lights under the side mirrors, not all models had them.

puddle lights= open door , oh ,theres a puddle that my puddlelights have saved me from steping in the 1/4" deep puddle , take a little leap off running board to avoid the 1/4" deep water puddle , land in a 8x10" fresh pile of GREAT DANE ******
Slip back and land in the puddle ,while laying on your back in the puddle you get a good view of the Puddle lights. I dont even have a fricking dog

so how do you plan on getting the LED into your Puddle assembly? You gonna dremel the lens off and epoxy it back?

ya, much more cost efficient. Finally found someone who sells the complete Puddle with LED, but very expensive. While we're on the LED thing, Im concerned about two things:
1. The measurement in mm (lets say for the 194 bulb for the front sidemarkers). When I look at sites to get measurements for LEDs I get sizes from 21mm-42mm. How big can I go before it wont fit? Im concerned about mainly the 194 lights that go on the exterior. The 194 series in the interior are Festoon type so Im not too concerned there.
2. In additional research, sites ask about CAN BUS. I think all F150 from 08 and above have CAN BUS. Am I correct in assuming this?
Im in the middle of documenting all the lights so that I can replace them with LEDs and its kind of a pain.

I used a hacksaw around the edges and siliconed it back together. Cost me a whole $10.
