I just started looking at them and they seem pretty good! Total automotive performance is a vendor on here and he has a deal set up for $400 (it's actually like 397 but I'm rounding) shipped for a pair of 4.5" light cannons. Definitely a little more than I want to spend but I love the ability to change the filters. I can change the lights to do what I want and when I want. Going to the ranch would use spots, driving by my house I'd use the euro or driving beam. Sweet idea. I'm gonna PM them to see if they have any more deals right now

If anyone is still looking at this, I am gonna end up getting the light cannons, and mounting it on a smittybilt light bar. I got a paycheck recently that is gonna approve my spending on this project. So as of now I will have the smittybilt with the light cannons. A friend of mine works on trucks so he might be able to get me a 20" light bar for a great rate and i can just put that between my light cannons. I will have to see the light bar to know its brightness and if i even want it. If not, I may get some cheap led cubes and point them to the sides for some light in the ditch/trees. I will post an update/pics when I get everything

I know this is a bit different than what you're looking for. I have these mounted on my front brushguard. A set of PIAA LP570 LED driving lights, and a set of PIAA RS600 HID driving lights. The HID's are the go to for long dark back roads. The LP570 LED I use if I know I'm gonna encounter traffic. I can switch them on/off instantly with no damage to the LED's. First pic is of how they look on the truck, second is of the LP570 by themselves, and the last is the RS600 HID by themselves.

I just ordered the light cannons... Like literally just ordered before I saw this. Those are some nice looking lights! I definitely like how the hid throw major light down the road and up on the sides. I want hid offroad lights but I encounter traffic just enough to make it not worth buying hid. I need the ability to turn them on and off without damaging the light. I don't go to the ranch enough to justify getting the hid lights. I'll definitely keep the PIAA in mind once I get these in. Do you have any issues with them? Also, do you use anything to secure the lights from theft?

Nice thread and it confuses me more. I currently have a off-brand 20" led bar mounted in my bumper and i want a little more.

At first I was thinking of getting rid of it and replacing it with some hyperspots for distance. But I started thinking I want a little more spread towards the sides, as well as a good throw in front of me.

Would a regular rigid d2 work for best of both worlds?

I suppose you could keep your bar for forward light projection and add some dually's or D2's angled to the side. It's pretty hard to get everything in one light package.

I agree with snowdawg. I'm more then likely gonna get a cheap Amazon light bar or cubes for side throw just to light up the trees next to me. I'll have the light cannons for distance and potentially a good driving beam but I'll probably still need a little extra. Maybe next year I can invest in some D2s for serious light.
I have the morimoto XB led fogs in my fog light housings right now. Fairly bright and throw the light super wide. It's not an offroad light, it's a street legal light with a cutoff but its not a bad little light. I got them for $80 because of Black Friday and the ford discount of $25. Not a light for you if you want to light up the trees and whatnot, stick to dually's for that.

I had PIAA 520s on my last truck and absolutely loved them.... until I had an issue and had to deal with their customer service. The customer service rep was an arrogant, unhelpful *** and I got nowhere dealing with him. I will not own anything PIAA again.

I've seen a few reviews like that. People saying the customer service is horrendous. I've never owned the lights but I do know that customer service makes or breaks a company. The retrofit source (aka TRS) has had amazing customer service to me and has made me want to go back to them in the future. Hopefully they can make another light bar that's good. I'd love to give it a shot

Just an update. Got my smittybilt bar in. Just installed it on the truck. Looks good and feels solid

Lights come in tomorrow. After the install I will look at other lights. Thinking a set of fogs from Amazon. Found a 27W pair with 9 LEDs that seems to shine some solid light and they are only $32 with a wiring harness
