Default Not another retrofit thread

So after buying a set of '13 oem hid headlights and having my stock headlights sitting around, I figured "eh, why not?"
Ordered me a set of Ebay Mini H1 projectors, butle tape, spray paint, and went to town.

Used an old HID kit I had to make sure everything works.

Testing it out. Getting excited!

All sealed up looking pretty!

Overall, I'm not too excited about the beam pattern on the passenger side flaring up at the end (driver's side seems fine).
But, for the money I'd say it was a pretty sweet deal and definitely a fun learning experience.

Other then the passenger side flaring up (I guess that is what you get with e-bay kits) it looks like you need to aim the passenger side down a bit more you've got two cut-off steps at the moment. How is the output on mini's?

Haha yeah i definately need to re-aim the passenger side down a bit. Light output is actually really great for an eBay kit and probably as good or slightly better than oem hid. Huge difference from stock Halogens.

kudos to you for doing this. I tried once and failed on my old car. I don't have the ***** for it anymore (maybe patience). I would have gone the extra step and got a more decent projector setup. like Azuri mentioned it flaring up on the passenger side, it looks great.

Patience is the key to this, for sure. I did this in the span of almost two weeks as a side project to keep me busy more than anything else (Hence why I went with cheaper projectors).

Nice job! I am in the middle of my retrofit project, and it is a lot of fun. I have been considering painting my signal light bucket like you did. Did you do any prep work to the chrome (sanding etc)? Did you prime?

Sanded them down and painted with Krylon fusion spray paint.
Sprayed the trim and shrouds in gloss black with clear and the reflector bowl and signal reflector in satin black.

You dont need to sand the chrome off either...just scuff it up with something like 800 or so. After I blew the dust off and tack clothed it really good i sprayed a plastic adhesion promoter as added guarantee the paint would stick good. I sprayed mine all black with Fusion satin black

Yeah I know it is not really needed to sand the chrome off, but I figured I might as well as I've never used the Fusion spray paint before.
