Default Morimoto HIDs shut off randomly

My Morimoto HID bulbs are driving me nuts. They will stay lit sometimes for an entire drive (20-30 mins.) or maybe only for 10-15 mins. leaving me to use the hi beams to get home. Then, by the next day, all is well again. How is a guy supposed to troubleshoot an intermittent problem? Can anyone give me any pointers?

Yes, I do have the anti flicker harness, but I had no idea that I needed to use Forscan. I’ll get on it today. Thank you very much for the tip.

i can't say it will fix your problem but i wish you luck .. also if its consistent on one side you can try swapping the igniter to see if it switches sides ... then if that's consistent swap ballast sides and see as well

I had the same issues on mine as well. I added the anti flicker harness, and did the forscan changes and now they work great.
Before i did the forscan changes, if I left them in the “auto” setting, they would eventually go off. But if I turned them on with the dash switch, they would stay on. Not sure why, but I could run them until I got around to doing the forscan changes.

Both lights go out, so I deduced that the relays are dropping out together, not the igniters.

So....out of curiosity what is the code in forscan that needs to be changed? I'm new to this (just got my truck, and also my OBD reader) so I tried searching around but couldn't find (or maybe couldn't understand) exactly what code you are talking about to change Halogen to LED code. Any help would be appreciated.

also here are some discussion around it https://www.f150forum.com/search.php?searchid=15960331

if that doesn't work.. you can put the whole code in the search function in the Late Model forum or advance search

Show Posts vs Show Thread will give you a preview and the direct post as well when you search
