Resistors just seem like a indirect way of resolving the issue and create heat along with having to hack into the wiring.
I agree 100% on the resistors. Looks like I will be ordering a pair of the red ZEVO 3157's.

I recently bought a pair of back up/reverse LED bulbs from F150LED. Wanted more light when backing up plowing at night when its really hard to see. They cost an arm and leg. But light up bright white. I like them.

Claralux CL42 bulbs in running light mode. Also CL90 921s in the Cargo Light and Diode Dynamics HP5s in the Tag Lights.
CL42 with Brakes Applied....Diode Dynamics 194 HP5 Red in the 3rd Brake Light
Another shot in running light mode. Trying to match around the brightness of the running lights on the OEM LED Taillights. Maybe I dont need to go any brighter?
CL42s aren't bad. LEDs do scatter light, so maybe I don't want to go any brighter for a taillight. Def is a noticible differentiation between running lights and when the brakes or blinkers are activated. The hyperflash on the dash isn't even that bad. Lights flash outside perfectly normal. I 'll disable the bulb out warnings when I get around to it...screw the resistors. I switched to a red HP5 in the third brake light because I found the CL40 921 Red I was running to be a little too bright. The Claralux CL10 was not as bright as the HP5 is. Probably more like an HP3. I might go down to an HP3 in the tag lights to tame down the light in the rear since those are always running unlike reverse lights or cargo lights.

Thanks for sharing pics of the cl42s. Shipped back the cl70s to exchange with these. These look plenty bright for me. Besides glare, concerned the cl70s would impact my reverse camera vision at night. Prefer the clear over red hue lighting which increases w brake pressure.

Installed the cl70s for reverse lights, cl40s for cargo, then cl10s for 3rd brake and tag lights. Super happy with the modification.

All rear lights bulbs updated except tail lights:

I may have to swap out my rear turn/brakes for something less lumen. I'm running 900 lumen bulbs now. They are plenty bright but I don't need my rear stop lights that bright, folks can see me It's kinda hard not to I have stop lights on my chase rack as well sooo i'm not exactly hidden.

I did however go with 900 lumen for my reverse/cargo lights (100 lumen on my 3rd brake, although with the chase rack you can't see my cargo/3rd brake anymore)

But, you also want to visible in the worst of weather and at distance. LEDs do not throw light as far. I got the CL70s coming. I'm going to do a comparison photo on one of each in each taillight. Gotta give a shout out to 4x4TruckLeds.com.....they are great to deal with and have excellent customer service. I'm looking for slightly brighter than the CL42s but not alot brighter. I would def not get the CL90 in a brake light bulb. So just comparing the two medium brightness bulbs. I got CL90s in my reverse and cargo lights....want maximum brightness there. And just reinstalled a CL40 in my third brake light. The HP5 (similar to the CL10 but slightly brighter) works good but I noticed the OEM Led Third Brake Light is brighter. CL40 in a red bulb there is very bright but I don't think it's too bright. It fills the housing much better with light. The CL10 or HP5 depend on their light diffuser in front of an LED to throw light back into the housing. The CL40 fires sideways too. I wouldn't go any brighter than a Red CL40 there. I like that it's actually 912/921 replacement.....the CL10 is a replacement for the small 194 bulbs that go in indicators and license plate tag lights. Both will fit there. But just kinda feel it's a 912/921 bulb stock....should get a 921 LED.

The 900 Lumen bulbs are awesome in the cargos and reverse. I'm gonna try the 700 lumen in the brakes and post a comparison with the 420 lumen. I would say if you just want to take the edge off the brightness, go with the 700 lumen.....if it's way way too bright at 900 lumens, then go with the 420 lumens.

Here some pics in more or less daytime lighting. Also comparing options for the third brake light.
All rear lights on....Cl 42 with Brakes on....CL 90s in Reverse and Cargo along with Diode Dynamics HP5s in the Tag lights and a Red Hp5 194 in the Third Brake light
CL90 Cargo Lights with Red HP5 Third Brake light with brake on. Does the job but dosent fill the housing as much as I like. But will probably work for most. I dont the dot of light the smaller bulbs make tho. But looks nice nevertheless. I found the HP5 from Diode Dynamics to be brighter than the CL10s, which are probably more like an HP3. But I like 4x4TruckLeds.com for all the other bulbs. Plus he offers the 921 bulbs in red, which Diode Dynamics dosent.
Same with CL40 921 Third Brake light with brake on. Very bright but fills the housing more and looks more clean IMO. Very powerful bulb but CL40 is the least brightest of the 921 bulbs 4x4TruckLeds.com offers. Its a full size 921 style bulb like the Cargos, not a wimpy 194 style bulb like the HP5.
CL40 again with Brake
CL 40 Third Brake light, CL90 Cargo Lights, and CL42 tails with Brakes on....will do a comparison pic when the CL70 tail lights come in.

If I keep the CL42s, then I might go back to the HP5 because I want a dimmer third brake light than my tail lights. If I go with the CL70s, then probably going to run the CL40 in the Third Brake light. HP5 is like a bright indicator light....the CL40 makes it like a smaller tail light. Depends what you want. I don't think it's too blinding but is bright and helps you be seen when braking.

Alright guys got the CL70s and my opinion is go with the CL42s from 4x4TruckLeds.com or the HP11s from Diode Dynamics. The CL42s actually performed better at distance, threw the light better and filled the housing better, and looked more uniform in the housing. The CL70s although nice seemed to scatter light and was hard to tell it was the brighter bulb. More light out to the side than out back in my opinion. The distance test sold me on the CL42s. Not what I expected at all. The CL42 has better contrast between brakes and running lights too IMO. So just some food for thought. CL42 FTW. If any of my pics came out good, ill post them later.

CL70 on right, CL42 on left.....Close up the CL70 is brighter. CL42 is more uniform.
CL42 on left and CL70 on right. But at a further distance, the CL42 is more visible.
CL42 on left and CL70 on right.....Again, CL70 is brighter but most of the light is thrown to the ground or out to the side. The CL42 throws more light back where it needs to be.
Close up again. CL42 on left and CL70 on right. CL42 has a nice uniform pattern while the CL70 scatters the light more.
Sorry if the pictures arent the best but I tried. So, the CL42 is the winner for me, at least for the 2015+ standard tail light housing . I think the Diode Dynamics HP11 is practically the same thing but more expensive. Cant speak for the CL40 over the CL42, which is a different design. But, I am pleased with the CL42s. They are bright themselves. I wouldn't get a CL90 for the rear tail lights....for the Reverse lights yes but I'd stick with the 400 lumen range for the red tail lights. The third LED on the CL90s might use the reflective housing better (the CL70 is basically a CL90 with the center LED deleted on each side). CL42s, however, are BRIGHT and plenty bright. And the most important thing about tail lights is visibility DOWN the road , not up close.

Gotta give a shout out to Adam at 4x4TruckLEDs.com for letting me try out the bulbs. So if you got CL90s now, id reccomend going down to CL42s.

Hey Guys, sorry for reviving an old thread, but I really like asdaven's setup and I need some help given that I'm pretty bad with anything electrical. I've reached out to him (only a few days ago), but haven't heard back yet.

I have a 2016 Lariat, but it does not have any LEDs (headlights or tails), so I was wondering if his set up would work on mine? This is everything I could find on 4x4TruckLEDs:

1. Cargo Lights: White, CL40: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/claralux...rd-f-150-1997/
2. 3rd Brake light: Red, CL40 (I might have this wrong): http://www.4x4truckleds.com/crystalu...150-2015-2017/
3. Tails - Reverse: Lights White, CL40: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/claralux...rd-f-150-2015/
4. Tails - Brakes: Red, CL42 7440/7443: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/claralux...ed-bulbs-pair/

If anyone can confirm these would work for me and if I need a Load Resistor or not, or even just point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it! Thanks
