You painted the high beam bucket satin black, right? Are you using a bulb in there?

No, no bulb. As you can see in the photos above it's performance was terrible and wasn't needed or even helpful really with the bi-xenon projector. Headlights have a DRL and turn signal already so all the light functions are covered. Since it was rendered obsolete it was painted to complete the blacked-out design of the headlight.

Hmmm, okay. Just looks odd without a bulb in there. Did you just put the socket in there with no bulb? I would at least put a bulb in there and not power it. Thats just me though.

Yea, it isn't the best use just to have the bowl deleted like that it would be cool to retrofit an LED pod in pencil beam or hyper-spot which can be wired in as a supplemental high beam but that requires more money for components and labor and it isn't "necessary."

I have built some headlights where the high beam was painted, some times I left the bulb, some times I left the bulb but painted it, and other times I remove the bulb, I have also removed the bulb and filled the hole with a black plug. IMO leaving the bulb looked weird as it was distracting if unpainted, and silly if painted. The point of deleting the bowl was to make everything black and this configuration achieved that.

I can see that some people may want the bulb in place, reasonable minds can differ.

Nice simple build.
The mini fit great in there.
How easy were those lights to separate?

Spec-Ds were sealed with butyl, easy to open.

What kind of light source is used for the DRL bar around the light? Any pics of the lens off or does it even come off?
