HID's in aftermarket headlights
I have a 2012 F150 XTR. So i have the daytime running lights once put in gear. I have put on a set of spyder headlights. I am wanting to put HID's on it. I'm just wondering since the lights come on can i run HID's? I have read where HID's have to have full power to operate and i know that the daytime running lights only operate at or around 70-80% power.

I would assume your DTRL are through your low beam then? I can say the ballast for the HID's would not operate unless at full power. You could just shut off the DTRL or attempt to wire it so that it would power your parking lights instead. Just a thought.

There is no easy way to make a HID bulb have dual brightness. Possible, yes, but not something you can just buy a product for and install within an evening. I also haven't tested to see how far a HID bulb can get before the arc diminishes - likely still quite bright.
