HID vs LED Fog light upgrade.

I know, I bought them from you! Very satisfied. Love the way they look on my black truck and the light output over stock is plenty for me.

I wouldn't worry about the brightness of the fogs as much as the headlights. I may be wrong but fogs aren't meant to be used as main source of light output. If the lows and highs are as bright as people say, the Morimotos should be just fine. They looks fine from the pictures I have seen anyways.
Fogs are designed to "cut through fog" thus the name... now adays however it's more of an aesthetic thing though. Stock fogs don't do a whole lot at all. I put the 3000 lumen (half what I used to have) in because I wanted something that "functions" then was for "looks"
The yellow look a bit, odd to be honest... but I can't wait till it snows out and I can see everything in front of me. THAT will be awesome.
The yellows also cut through bad weather (like rain/FOG) so other drivers can see you easier.

I also understand fogs are designed to cut through fog which is what makes me think the morimotos are the best choice due to the fact that they are designed to be fogs in a specific projector housing. My stock fogs due nothing the way they are and the color looks horrible compared to the rest of my lighting so I'm trying to accomplish two things here...
It would just be nice to see a comparison of morimotos vs. bulb swap vs. HID...
Sorry for kinda jacking your thread OP but it's all relevant and hopefully we can both learn about what we are after...

Take it from me then. I dont sell anything, just buy a lot and try stuff out. I have had multiple combinations in my fogs in my 07 round housings. First, factory housings with Nokya Hyper Yellow H10 bulbs. Great output and usable light. Next, JW Speaker knock off housings. Very good light, but felt scattered. Next, Morimoto housings, not worth the money at all. Now I have stock housings with LED 9005 bulbs with the 3000K filter and I love them. They are the best I have tried, so my experimenting ends there. Here they are in order I listed to what I have now:

You are welcome. I saw no visible improvement in foul weather (rain/snow/sleet/fog). We get all kinds of bad weather here in Kansas. I will forever run yellow foglights. I know the Morimotos offer a yellow Lamin-X vinyl tint, but I wasn't impressed enough to spend another $15 on top of the $140 or so I had already spent.

Yellow, red, blue, white, the color temperature of the light has long been thought to be a factor in being able to see because of pseudoscience talking about "how the light scatters (rayleigh scattering)" and "what your eyes see better" -- while part of this is true (your eyes do process yellow better than most colors) -- the science says that the true proof of fog light efficacy is in luminance and spread.
White or yellow fog lights are good. They need to be bright but not too bright, too bright means you're just blinding yourself again. Which goes back to the fogs that Summers is using, yellow filtered LEDs that have a high luminance rating-- the filters cut some of that off and provide a yellow hue that works great against a white background (such as snow).
They are, anecdotally and scientifically, the "best" selection, with standard white coming a close second.
As long as they're level and straight ahead, with decent flood, and enough luminance that they're lighting up the 10-15 feet ahead of you in an even fashion, get whatever you want.
