It's plug and play for the most part... however you need to keep the ballast outside the housing... see these instructions

These LED lights from 4x4truckleds are such a huge NIGHT VISION improvement over stock halogen. I have mine aimed somewhat low so I don't get flashed when I have my boat attached. Even aimed low they are about a thousand times better than those dim OEM halogen.

There may be some SLIGHT bleed since they are LED's in a halogen housing but the bleed will not bother oncoming drivers or yourself. The bleed/pattern is almost what you'd see with halogen lights... only more light and whiter light. We would not sell these if they bled too much or caused problems with oncoming drivers.
I'm in a 6" raised truck and never get people high beaming me (I do get people moving their mirrors when I'm right up behind them though due to the height of my truck)... so if I don't have issues, you won't.

I have enjoyed your torture test videos and info on your site. What I am trying to avoid is getting an LED set just to improve looks. I have definitely seen some friends install some cheap LEDs that looked nice, but did nothing for output / visibility ... which also aligns to "Please note: Fog Light LEDs are primarily for cosmetic upgrade. Some models may not provide an increase in output." and "HP48: 265 lumens. Slightly lower brightness than factory." per your site.
So has it been confirmed that the reason for the poor factory light output is the bulb? If not, then can one say upgraded LEDs is the appropriate fix if the housing is part to blame?
Thanks!

You are on the right track which is good. You are smart enough to realize that just throwing LED's in may not be a good idea. A lot of folks (especially the ricers) just throw whatever they can find in, and blind everybody.
These kits don't blind folks, which is why they are so popular. LED's are starting to get designed a bit better and so far from what I've seen these are the best design available. When someone better comes along we'll start looking into that. But so far they work great. No blinding of oncoming drivers, plenty of light output and they mimic the same cut-off the halogen lights got (projection gives you a BETTER cut-off of course, but that's because of how a projection housing works).
I believe the issue is with the bulb ford used. The housing is a good design AND a bad one. Bad because of what we have to go through to replace a bulb (not a fan of that ENCLOSED environment) but good because it's a BIG area to throw light out of.
Problem is, Ford HAS to stick with "DOT approvals" and so far you can't get halogen bulbs that go past a certain wattage... otherwise it's passed what DOT likes.
LED's are different as they use LESS wattage but throw more light out. BUT DOT approval do not work for LED/HID aftermarket kits. Only OEM HID are DOT approved and only projection style systems with enclosed LEDs (like the ford OEM, or the Diode Dynamic 7" sealed style)....
Sooo that's why you see poor light output from the factory halogens... it was good enough to pass DOT and in Fords eyes... the poor lights are a SMALL thing to worry about... people love the Fords regardless so we all buy them even if the light output sucks.
Soo hopefully that points you in the right direction...

I also what's call Mark III from 4x4truckled. Both low beam and fog. The low beam works perfectly fine and brighten the way wherever I go. However one of the fogs came loose I believe due to the heat. Still thinking if I should get another set of go with other brand.
If u just need low and high beam. Definitely go with 4x4truckled. There's no one better out there.

I don't sell Mark III bulbs pcpctc, you bought your Mark III from a competitor (and paid more and got false hopes... that boot they give you, will let water in your housing).
They don't sell the "Mark III" as they call it in a fog light, so the fogs you guys are actually kind of crappy (I know, I had their Mark II fogs back in January when I got my truck... that's how my company formed, I didn't like their product and sourced my own).
Our XHP kits however (which are pretty much the same as their Mark III, only we do more quality control and R&D and use the latest drivers/ballasts) are what we recommend for our customers for their fog lights. 6000 lumens of light output that really lights up the road.
Just so ya know our bulb styles we do ourselves are:
XHP Series (6000 Lumen)
XHP Series (3000 lumen, for fogs, and they come with different color filters)
We also offer the complete Diode Dynamics catalog of lights.
