Pretty sure that new trucks w/halogens have the headlights (in a dimmer mode) as the DRLs, and that it's only new trucks w/HIDs that have the turn signal ambers "on" as the DRLs.
I think this is because the HIDs cannot have a "partially on" functionality that would serve as DRLs, so Ford uses the turn signals instead.

Kind of an old subject, but I have been looking into DRL's for my 2013 XLT Screw E/B. Haven't been having much luck in my research and/or talking to Ford Dealers, who all say no parts listed for such an endeavor, etc. HOWEVER, I have a friend who is a fleet mechanic and who happens to have the Ford programming software. So took it to him and he was able to turn on DRL's for me on my truck. Now, as stated in other places, it is not the low power headlights, but, rather, the amber parking lights and tail lights. Except that it is actually the front amber turn signal bulbs, so much brighter than just the parking light. And turn signals still work too. I am also considering adding some amber LED's to my front brush guard then splicing in to the appropriate turn signal wires on each side. That would add even more DRL and front signal visibility. Haven't decided on that for sure yet. Since I just had this done today, time will tell whether I have any issues with bulbs blowing due to the brighter signal light being on all the time.

2 ways to activate your 13 DTRL's
1.) Pay the dealer
2.) do it your self and select fogs, lights or turn signals:
