Not to rain on your parade too much I just think that everything about the quality of certain LED aftermarket lighting is junk. I too considered this mod but I honestly believe the circuitry is cheap junk so even if you put 3 feet of NASA approved sealent they will fail unless you get extremely lucky. Recon is the same my LED bar failed pretty quickly. My Anzo taillights were garbage after two attempts I got my money back and never looked back. Waiting on others to go on their third and forth pairs of these now. I'm not a fan of the orange reflectors so ended getting the black ones while others have plasti-dip them. Best of luck on your next pair I'm pretty sure you'll need it. /rant off
Quoting myself from June of last year. You guys got some serious patience with these things lol. I learned my lesson with Anzo aftermarket products. Hopefully gooping these up with NASA approved sealant will be the answer but I doubt it. Junk products are junk, just saying.

Those that are potting and still getting failures, are you using the right material?
You can't just pick up any old tube of silicone from the hardware store. If it contains acetic acid ( a curing agent) it will eat at the circuit board causing a failure.
just a thought....
