have a friend who has this style of headlights. he wants to upgrade to led bulbs but i know from reading on here the rubber boot on the back is not big enough to handle them depth-wise. does anyone know the size of the opening so i can order him new boots?

When in doubt... get the all-in-one boot. You just cut away the size you need (it's basically a pyramid shape almost).
