Looks like a pump of some sort

Don't buy cheap ballasts?

Seriously. Cheaping out on hid components is a waste of time and money, cheap ballasts can crap out just bouncing on the road.

Spend the time to research the quality brands, mount them in the best spot you can to keep them from the elements.

I recommend TRS.
(The Retrofit Source)

For components and ...well anything to do with hid. I've had the same 3five ballasts for 2 years mounted on a work truck fully exposed to snow, mud, rain, everything... not even a hiccup.

Default HID troubleshooting problem (HELLA VVME)

OK so i just bought an '06 F150 and previous owner has put in HID's (seem to be HELLA VVME 35w from the converter box thing sticker). But the right hand headlight doesn't work. Can someone help me work out what the problem is?

Is it the bulb or has something else gone wrong?

I have a couple photos will see if i can upload them too...

Thanks!

I bought a bi-xenon hid kit from xenonlink.com for my brother' 01 f150. The kit was installed correctly, however it blew the low beam fuse and one headlight only flickers when i turn the hi beams on. Also that ballast shocks me when its on and i touch it. It this a manufacturer issue with that ballast or what?

Okay...

Both posts above, replace them. Not just one component, the whole thing.

Why? You're working with something that you have never worked with before, you have an issue, and the cost of simply replacing them with brand new components is far less than that of guessing and potentially hurting yourself or the vehicle.

If the ballast is shocking you unhook it from the battery and throw it away if it's correctly wired. By your description, those issues are very common with low quality kits. If you're sure it's wired right, then that's my vote, it's ruined.

There is no way for me to diagnos it without actually seeing it. It could be the ballasts going bad, it could be the bulb going bad, it could be that the wiring isnt done right. There are several things that can happen with cheap HID kits, there is no way to Troubleshoot, they just simply need to be thrown away and replaced with quality product, that works every time.

I'm not trying to sound rude, I'm trying to make sure that these kinds of situations are minimized. If you cheap out on the components expect to get cheap performance.

There are a lot of situations in life where you get what you pay for, HID kits are certainly no exception. TRS, DDM ( even though I really don't like DDM) are the only two that seem to have consistent quality especially TRS.

I have retrofitted TRS components in my truck. Sure, they are more expensive, but I know that when I fire them up they will work the first time, and every single time after that. I can get them wet, freeze them in the winter, cover them in mud, run them through a car wash, and I do not have to worry about the components failing.

Did your kit have a warranty, or anything where you can go back on the manufacturer?

Default HELP.!! CANADIAN HID conversion for DRL..!!

I just purchased a set of 6K HIDS for my 2011 Screw, and was planning out my installation process.. I suddenly realized that I will have an issue with Canadian DRLs since during the day the DRLs are actually the Hi-beams on half intensity... Not sure how that will work with the HID as to life, performance, etc..??

I have read thru the entire thread here, and have not found much information on how to accomodate the DRL system with an HID conversion.. The only thing I found was a general reference to using a relay to bypass the stock DRL signal.??

ANY information will be greatly appreciated....

Thanks in advance..!!

From what I've seen on other posts, you have to disable them. A lot of guys close to the border go to the dealerships stateside to do it but if you aren't close idk what to tell u man...
