Yeah... at THAT premium price you're better off getting the TRS kit.
Proven professional people, proven quality, rock solid reputation.
Don't bother with random cheap kits. Its a bigger PITA if anything happens. Stick with the brand names that have been mentioned on here uncountable times.

All I seem to see on here is posts about the HID kits themselves... what about headlights?!? Im new to the HID world and im looking to buy aftermarket headlights but i have no idea what decent brands there are out there and what a decent price would be. is there something specific i should be looking for that will be designed to put HIDs in them? also, ive seen posts about bixenon lights... are those the ones that only require the one ballast to run both hi and low beams??? sooo many questions regarding headlights and HIDs. just wanna get a better knowledge of all this BEFORE i go out and blow my money on something thats not what i was looking for and regret it.

Okay. In a nutshell...
No, and I mean NO aftermarket housings are designed for HID bulbs. They are designed to use halogen, regardless of what the seller says or includes with them. If its not a retrofit, its not built for HID's.
Bixenon is the term used to describe a hi/lo function, they only require one ballast per bulb. This is a constant, they're all the same.
As for your concerns... its all about what you want to spend. You DEFINITELY get what you pay for with HID components. There's pros and cons to each one, and each has its own appeal. Many are against the first two, it's not MY place to make that judgement on your decision. You do what you like, what you can afford. No more, no less.
Yes, hids in stock housings are annoyingly bright, and produce nothing but glare. It's defiantly a downside for others.
Yes aftermarket projectors are close, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
Projectors that are retrofitted offer the pinnacle of hid lighting. There is only one substitute, oem. Oem is as close as it gets, retrofitted pairs are better. Imo
Simple facts. Take them as you will.
Options:
1...HID bulbs in stock housings
$75-$300
2...HID in aftermarket housings
$200-450
3...retrofit a pair of OEM housings
$600+
I chose option 3. The choice is yours.

wow that really helps out. i really like the way yours turned out and ive been looking into the options for the retrofit. im pretty sure thats the option im going to go with... now i just gotta figure out what it is exactly that i want and then start looking for shops that can do it. retrofits look like the way to go because it looks clean, yet there are so many options that you can choose from that the possibilities are endless. even just looking up f150 retrofit headlights on youtube made me realize that this is probably the ONLY way to go when it comes to the lights. THANKS!

HID trouble
This is my first post to this forum, but I have an 07 f150 and I am having trouble installing hid's in my truck. I'm trying to put headlights and foglights in, but when I wire everything up, only my headlights work and my bright light sign is lit real dim, and my fogs won't work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
