Aftermarket Lens Cracking
Has anyone had this issue before?
The lights are 2-3 years old.
They did come with a HID light system but I removed it and went back to halogen not long after I installed them. Didn't like the HID. The cracking just started about 6 months ago and they are getting worse, fast.
These are the lights that I purchased:

You didn't like HID because that lense is not supposed to run HIDs.
As for the cracking... are you sure it's not just dirty or is it actual cracking?
Are you from the south by chance, where the sun will destroy things outside?
I'm guessing it's just a poorly made light that can't hold up to the weather changes and is getting destroyed by the sun

I am located in northern illinois.
I've since learned that HIDs ate meant for projectors, correct?
They are cracks. The light colored cracks are still smooth to the touch were the more obvious cracks are rough like sandpaper. They are getting worse by the day.
I'm looking into getting replacements but am now nervous about which to purchase.

Yes HID's are meant for projectors although a lot of newer ones on the market can work fine in a non-projection housing. BUT not every housing is the same. Some housings don't play well with LED or HID and others do.
I'd just buy new housings, from a quality company. Did you buy those on eBay?

If that is what i paid, i wouldn't be asking. It was a few years ago but i know the set was well over a $100 from protuninglab.com. If i would have thought it was cheap Chinese, i wouldn't have bought it.

Gotta tell ya... MOST of the aftermarket parts for vehicles come from our friends overseas... even the manufacturers here source the parts from overseas... "built in Detroit" but not MANUFACTURED
