Aftermarket HID Questions
I am looking at installing a plug and play HID kit on my 2017 XLT to replace the Factory halogen headlights. What are some do’s and dont’s? What are some good kits? And will the factory headlight housing work with them?

Just dont... everyone you encounter on the road will thank you. You'll be glare city. Only way to do it is to retrofit.

Besides blinding others, the light will no longer be reflected on the road where you need to to see. The lights will appear brighter because they’re shining up and producing glare.
An hid bulb and an incandescent bulb produce light in different ways. The reflector in the halogen housing is not designed to work with an hid.

Theres a million and a half threads on this, but if it were me, and I would never go led, the only ones I'd use would be Diode Dynamics SL1. They were designed off F150 headlights. Most of them are over priced garbage that cause a lot of glare.

LEDS are better
I put leds on my black 17 f150, 6000k headlights and fog lights. They light up the road incredibly and I’ve never been asked to lower them. It’s been 1 year now and I haven’t had any problems with them.no flickering,I’ve driven for 5 or 6 some nights and still no problems. Those blue-ish lights look nice on black.

Check out Headlight Revolution as well as their YouTube channel. They have a ton of information on HID, LED, do's, don'ts and some brand comparison. I was highly impressed with my change to the Supernova V3's for my fogs. Major difference! Same cutoff but much whiter and brighter light.
From what I've learned, in a standard reflector housing (not projector) HID's or LED's will work much better than factory if you get the right brands. Avoid the super cheap Ebay stuff for headlights. Those are where you will see more glare as their light pattern is often different than stock and may even have less output than the factory halogen bulbs.
Bottom line, do the research and see what you like best. I just found Headlight Revolution to have some of the best information and testing as well as videos.

This is what I put in my 17 XLT they work great there is no glare the factory cutoff works great with these lights. No flickering what so ever. I did have to use extended cups for the back of the bulb housing. I think I paid like $10/set.
