2017 ANZO switchback function does not work in hot weather
This only happens with the driver's side headlight. For the first year the headlight performed in all conditions perfectly, but then all of a sudden the switchback function of the driver's side headlight stopped working. The regular white LED still works fine, but it wouldn't turn amber with the turn signal or when unlocking the truck, which is a very bad look at night with one amber and one white light when approaching the truck.
I originally wasn't sure why the problem was happening, and after triple checking the wiring and connections contacted ANZO about the issue and asked if they knew what the problem was or had a solution. Their solution was to send me a new set of headlights under warranty (and I should mention that I contacted them at about 12 months and 2 weeks - just over a year, and they still replaced the lights). I'm very happy and impressed that they were willing to stand behind their product and overall am satisfied with the customer service (although I had to send the old headlights back before they would ship me a new pair). I was so impressed in fact that I decided to get matching ANZO taillights to show my support. Unfortunately though after only a couple weeks the new pair of headlights developed the same problem, which was very disheartening. Then as the weather got colder I realized that during the winter months the headlight performs exactly as expected, but as soon as the temperature gets even a little bit warm (like 70 degrees F, ~21 C) the problem resurfaces again.
So I'm assuming that it's a temperature thing, but can not think of what would cause just the switchback function to fail with high(ish) temperatures. For those wondering, the regular amber bulb still works fine on that side and lights up like normal, but the headlight doesn't respond for some reason. I might just end up disconnecting the switchback from both headlights so that at least I don't get this weird mismatched coloring when unlocking and locking the truck, but I would love to keep the functionality as I do like it a lot.
Any thoughts?
