Hmm that's neat! I was just complaining to the misses about how I wished there was some sort of lighting in my center console the other night and then I see this! Looks good!!

It's an old thread but I wanted to add a small update about this mod.
As I mentioned, I used a switch that I picked up from Radio Shack. The switch uses a plastic tip instead of metal on the trigger. At some point recently, that black tip of the switch disappeared and now the switch stays on because the trigger is now too short. Thankfully LEDs draw little power so it hadn't sucked by battery dry.
I were to do this over, I think I would try to find a switch that's constructed of metal instead of plastic to avoid this happening in the future.

Yeah, I bought the four pack as well. At first, that's what I thought had happened (the tip popping off) but the stem actually broke off. I'll need to replace the entire switch if I can't find a "button pad" that can shorten the distance between the switch and the console lid.

If I have to put a new one in eventually, it should be a easy 10 minute job since the console pretty much snaps together!

Thanks for the writeup. I've got left over material from the bed light project that I'll be using for this. Just need to pick up a switch on the way home. I'll still have some LED left over and wondering where to use them next... footwell?
