My point is the reflectors were the same in both the non hid and OEM hid headlamp.

I suppose it is possible. However, the bulb shield would be different wouldn't it? If so, the assembly is not the same. When people put plug n' play HIDs in their factory housings do they use the "R" bulbs or "S" bulbs? I honestly don't know. Do they modify the bulb shield accordingly?

For sake of argument ignore the shielding concern:
If the reflector is the same the manufacturer must have accounted for the difference is position between the arc of the HID vs the glowing filaments in the Halogen when molding the bulb mount. Otherwise the light pattern would change dramatically. That would make the reflector housing different again. When people put plug n' play HIDs in their factory housings do they account for this difference in distance between the reflective surface and the source of light?

I understand the reflectors themselves MIGHT the same but that isn't the whole picture.

Can you show diagrams or pics?

Default One light doesn't work

So I have a 2010 F150 XLT (US production, non-day time running lights) and have done the 35W HID Hi/Low kit in the 6000K color. I have had them for about a week and have NOT been able to get the drivers side light to illuminate but for ONE time.

The kit I bought is the one mentioned in the first post of this thread... WITH the wiring harness. The harness takes power from the battery and installs before the ballasts.

I have read thru the pages of this thread and am not sure what the "end all" solution is for my problem. Can someone out there, who had this issue, help me out with its solution? I am so confused as to what the solution is and could really use some direction. Thanks in advance for sharing your trials and solutions to this.

THANKS!!!

ps I have adjusted my non-projector headlights and don't need a lecture on the subject, thanks.

What did you adjust? Just curious. The only reflector adjustment I know of is height. Just tryin' to learn something new.

I have the ddm 55 watt 8k in the original lens along with a 8 inch lift and all I did was adjust my lights down with a screwdriver. They work great and do not blind anyone as I had my girlfriend come at me in her little Honda and she said they were bright but she says other cars are more distracting than them. So I think that adjusting them is the key.

Im in Canada with DRL. Sometimes only one comes on with the headlight switch in AUTO. I turn off the headlight switch fully and then back on to AUTO and both come on. Don't know if that will work for you. Also, if your engine is off and you turn on your headlights, do they both light?

I have done what you suggested.... With the truck not running, turn the headlights on. It didn't make a difference.... Only the passenger side would light. Even with the key on, engine off, I tried to get both lights to illuminate by turning the switch from off to on (not auto).

So the weird thing is that twice tonight I drove my truck. Both lights worked??? The process was having the switch off starting the truck to let it warm up, with the lights off. Then turning on the lights a couple miniutes later, and the lights WORKED!!!??? This worked twice. I don't know why it worked, but I will try this method vs having them on auto and starting the truck.

Is there any differrence as to why they would work via starting the truck, the a couple miniutes later turning on the lights?

Thanks guys!!

There are many auto manufactures that used HID's in NON projector units.
Right but the HID reflector is designed and shaped to properly reflect the light of the arc shaped orb of the HID capsule.

Halogen reflectors are designed and shaped to reflect the thin halogen filament. Stick a fat bright orb in its place and it missed the focal point, refracting light everywhere = GLARE.

I've read the entire 11 pages with great interest since I have a 2010 F-150 FX and was contemplating doing this same mod. I also have the 2" leveling kit installed with 305x55x20 tires on stock wheels.

After reading all this info, I'm a little confused on which kit to use/get. Would the DMM 35w 5000K h13 hi/low kit be fine and what bulbs would be perfect with this kit for the fog lights? I saw that DMM fog lights do not light the ground properly which was a concern as well.

I am concerned about all the posts saying that their lights don't come on properly. Is this more an issue with the kit design or a truck issues? Also, I'm in the US in Arizona.

Thanks for more info in advance.
