Default Wooden Bed Rails

I have a 2011 F-150 XLT Supercab Ecoboost and am looking to make wooden bed rails for my truck. I measured the stake holes on my truck today and they are about 2 1/4'' x 1 3/4''. I'm not the most construction knowledgable person(I've got a tool box and that's about it) and am wondering how I should go about doing so. At Home Depot they had 2"x1"'s which was as close as I could get to the size of the stake holes. I was thinking I could get 4 of those and then get some plywood or something to connect the 3 sides excluding the tail end. Not sure how well that would work...

Helpful thoughts/tips would be great!

Need more information. What are you going to use it for? How light weight or how heavy duty do you need it to be?

Mostly just for leaves, mulch, etc. Not real heavy duty just need more space for hauling away yard waste so I don't have to make as many trips.

I would use the biggest piece of wood for the vertical stake pocket post. Use the pressure treated wood for the rails. 2x10 or 2 or 3 of them for 20 to 30 inch high. I would drill and bolt them together. Pressure treated wood will survive the weather better.

i just threw this together, for dump runs as well...2x4 ripped in1/2 for the stakes and a couple other 2x4's for the top rail and scraps to fill in and rest on the truck box inner lip..
