Is this yet another example of the wussification of American society? Has the red-blooded American male really become such a cautious wimp that he has to ask his forum buddies if his 2011 5.0L F150 can "tow my 19ft bow rider"??? Look, I am all for highway safety and following the proper towing etiquette, but damn! Sack up and use your truck for a change! I have a standard tow package and 3.31 gears, yet I still manage to tow my 8,000lb, 33ft Chris Craft Stinger across the Cumberland Plateau on a regular basis with no problem at all. Sure, I added airbags, and certainly keep in the slow lane, but I maintain a safe highway speed. I am just amazed at all of the F150 owners who brag about towing "a 6X12 trailer with 3 4-wheelers and a dirt bike with no problem as long as I am in tow mode"...Duh! Somebody else out there give me a good tow story that involves more than 7,000lbs....
Priceless.

Fun thread! But most of what I learned about towing was right here. And I remember being confused and nervous and not knowing what a WDH was or that a slider hitch might be required in a short bed. Maybe if the new guys would look around for existing threads instead of jumping right in with a new topic that has already been discussed countless times already.

i for once have a fair bit of experience towing back home in Europe, but that involves smaller cars and smaller trailers.
i just got a F150 because i like the looks and practicality of a truck, and occasionally might have to haul / tow more than my convertible will take. and i'll need to hook up a U-Haul next week-end and i'm somewhat worried about it...
why? because i have never towed with my truck, never towed in Alberta, never used a trailer brake controller, and so on... i know the trailer will be well under the truck's capacity, but still...
so yeah, i might have some stupid questions, or at least i'll be glad to read other people's stupid questions that will prevent me from f***ing something up !!
