To me its all about how often you tow heavy if you only tow heavy a couple times a year (with in the correct specs of course) you want the f150 cause it can handle it for that time but you want the cheaper gas, insurance, maintenance, insurance and mileage when not towing. If you tow daily or do long trips and often f250 all the way it will last longer and will be worth the money. I had a 2014 f250 powerstroke loved it but didn't tow enough to make it worth keeping. plus with the new aluminum body the payload is a lot better on the f150 compared to previous years.

I tow a 9600 gooseneck trailer and tractor down to the lease two or three times a year. The total trip is ~100 miles. Otherwise I drive around in the middle of a city towing my fat Labrador retriever. Im putting a 3/4 ton off as long as possible.

I wouldnt say the 2.7 EB is at any kind of towing disadvantage in the real world. I believe they artificially neutered the towing numbers to differentiate it from the 3.5EB, but in reality power between the two is quite similar.

If you are talking about towing up to 7600 lbs or whatever the 2.7 is rated for, then you are fine.
