This 150 lb hypothetical driver regards payload drives me crazy. You experienced folks can set me straight.

My owners manual on load carrying does not mention any assumed driver weight when discussing payload as noted on the tire sticker.

In the 2016 brochure, on the tech specs page with Maximum Payload Ratings (the rating theoretically possible on a Base curb weight truck with no options), it does mention "Payload Notes: Maximum Capabilities shown are for properly equipped vehicles with required equipment and a 150 lb driver. Weight of additional options, equipment, passengers and cargo must be deducted from this weight."

So - I know my tire sticker payload rating (2031#) came from the 2260# max. theoretical value in the tech specs minus my options weight minus the weight of the extra 13 gal of gas I'm carrying around. I have been assuming that the 2031# value also has this 150 lb driver built into it.

So - since I pack 80# more than the Ford 150# driver, I subtract that 80# off the 2031# when doing my hauling sums.

^ right. If you are 80lbs more than 150, that's 80 lbs less of the payload you can carry. Just like if a 150 lb driver added 80lbs of concrete.

The truck doesn't care where the weight comes from, just the total.
