Default What RV are you towing with your aluminum F150?

I am curious what kind of RV you are towing with your 15+ aluminum F150 and your experiences with it as compared to the previous steel bodied truck.

My few experiences was that the new lighter truck didn't handle sway as well. Yours?

I tow a 30' Jayco Jayflight. Weighs about 7200 loaded.

Check my past threads for my reviews on it. Even have a video on YouTube.

Equalizer 1200 pound bars. Check out my past posts. Seriously a lot of feedback on the towing experience.

I'm towing a 2012 Jayco Jay Flight 26BH which is a 29' travel trailer weighing in dry from the factory at 5050#s and loaded between 6500 lbs and 7000 lbs.

Towing it with 2010 F150 5.4L w/3.55 LS, with a 2012 F150 5.0L w/3.73 locker, and now with the 2016 F150 5.0L w/3.73 locker.

2016 tows it better but I was using a Reese Strait-Line (HP Dual Cam) on the 2010 and 2012, and now use a Blue Ox Sway Pro.

With 2016, the rig handles better and has more power. The tow haul mode in the 2016 is different now forcing engine braking even on flat surfaces which takes a bit to get used to.

Rear suspension is stronger on 2016 as the 1200 lbs of the Strait-Line were to heavy and it couldn't be adjusted right with them. Reese doesn't offer 1000 lbs bars for the Strait-Line so I went to the Blue Ox Sway Pro 1000 lbs bars and glad I did. Much better pull with the Blue Ox!

How did you know the 1200 bars were too heavy? I ask because I wonder if mine would handle better with 1000 bars instead of 1200. I'm using an equalizer.

Dealer could not get it adjusted correctly because the bars were to strong for the new F150. The 2016 F150 has a stiffer suspension and the 1200 lbs bars for my 800 lbs to 900 lbs tongue weight was just to much with the stronger suspension.
