Default WDH/Sway Recommendation

Just purchased a 2012 Wells Cargo Fasttrac 8.5' x 20' V nose enclosed trailer for a move cross country. I've been looking at WDH/Sway as I drove the trailer roughly 300 miles and when large vehicles fly by me going 80 mph+ I can definitely feel the sway. The issue with the trailer is from the center of the ball to the diamond plate is two feet and the trailer & RV sales guys around me don't have any recommendations. I was thinking of going with the Andersen hitch as the chain appears to ride below the A frame and I'd need to cut out a little of the plywood around the a-frame to clamp on as they appear to be roughly 36". Does this sound logical or is there another product you guys would recommend? Thanks for any advice!

I'm sure others will come along with advise, in the mean time, check out etrailer.com. Very respected internet superstore for advise and parts.

Andersen and Equalizer are generally the two top rated hitches without going overboard into the Hensly/Pro Pride range. Andersen would be well suited for a trailer tour size.

Is there a way to maybe move that electrical box back under the trailer on the A Arm? That would free up some space to have more options for a WD hitch. I am not sure if you have a breakaway cable coming out of the box but even if there is you might be able to add a remote one. Just a thought.

Sure Equalizer and some of the other options out there will work great but I think that box is in the way with the way things are set up on it now which is why the trailer dealer was without ideas.

Here is a remote breakaway switch if you needed to add one to replace one in the box.

your trouble is mounting the bracket for the springbars to have them be effective. You said your OK cutting a hole in the floor?

This appears to be a cargo trailer. If your TV will handle it load the tongue a little heaver, ~15% and you probably won't need WDH and sway control.

If not etrailer is a good suggestion, if there is an option they should know it.

I can have a trailer repair company move that box for me I'm sure but I'm thinking the Andersen hitch will be easier as I wouldn't even have to touch that box.

Yeah, It's just plywood. I figured if I cut enough of the plywood away from the A-frame of where I needed to mount the Andersen or Equalizer arms they'd work. The equalizer looks like i'd need to move the electrical box on the inside or on top of the A-frame.

Yeah, it's a dual axle cargo trailer so I figured if we moved some of the heavier items towards the tongue/front it would help a bit compared to when I picked it up empty. Where I live we have crazy winds so I'd prefer the sway control but I'll use this trailer for really only moving from NV to Illinois and then moving again in a couple years after that so it's not a daily trailer.

Thanks for all the comments.
