WDH/Semi trucks/jackknife/my safety

So, it's **** weather and my commute today takes about two months to go what is normally an hour.

There's any number of unfortuantes in the ditch. There's semis jackknifed and blocking everything.

Days like this I take the f150, feeling the option to have the ability to drive in the ditch allows me to leave the carnage behind.

A semi drags up to a 53-foot trailer, sitting on a pad of grease, with no control in braking situations, and when passing me at about any speed can cause catastrophic issues.

So, where's the equity? Why is there nothing that protects me from semi drivers?

Days like that .. you need to just stay in bed.

What kind of protection are you looking for? Legislation to prevent goods from being delivered when the weather gets iffy? Cops everywhere handing out tickets to anyone we perceive to be unsafe?

Reality is, making roadways perfectly safe is so utterly expensive as to not even be a consideration. Fortunately, we are still free to use our own good judgement, and I'd say in your case I would have chosen to take a day off instead of risking my life. Let the semi drivers move along, I'd enjoy some sleeping in and getting things done around the house for the day.

Unfortunately, I don't hit the highways and go in when most are just waking up, so I get no excuse for not going in during the snow/freezing rain commute tomorrow. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, we get more done by 9am than the post office does all d... wait, they are closed again? (I'll concede... their vehicles really suck.... in all weather).
