WD Hitch question
I purchased a 2013 Lariat 4x4 157" Eco-SCrew with the intention of buying either a light 5th wheel or a TT. I have the Max Tow AND HD Payload options. Available payload is 2168lbs and front and rear axles are 4050 & 4800lbs. w/a GVW of 8200.
Have not ruled out a 5th but found a TT I like.
The TT I am looking at has a hitch weight of 1097 (14.7%). What kind of a weight reduction/distribution can I expect with a WD hitch. And secondly whose WD hitch would you recommend.
Thanks in advance.

I just put a 1000/10000 Equalizer hitch on my truck.
They are very well made, and certainly heavy duty.
With your tongue weight, move up to the 1200/12000 at a minimum, perhaps more.
I have no clue as to your final tongue weight, as you set it up to make the tow vehicle axle weights correct proportionally.

I have the Equal-i-zer 10,000 lbs hitch and it works well. The only problem I have is that it's noisy. It's a bit embarrassing that it creaks so much when I bring my Rockwood Roo trailer home out of storage. I hear that the Blue Ox Sway Pro is not as noisy as the Equal-i-zer and the Reese Dual Cam and they are within $50 of the price for the other 2 systems right now on etrailer.com.

I do lube it. I use a dry graphite spray-on lube which the tech support guy at Equal-i-zer said would be OK. I even bought the plastic pieces that sit on the L brackets and it's still noisy. Everything is torqued to spec, too.
On the RV forum I go to, lots of people say their Equal-i-zers creak.

I'm on a trip to the Maritime provinces now so I thought I'd try some bearing grease rather than the dry graphite spray lube I've been using. It still creaks and moans with the grease.
BTW, the Equal-i-zer website says the noise is normal and indicates that it's working.

I just towed a loaded equipment trailer (weight 8200 lbs) Virginia to California using 12000 lb Equalizer hitch with 2012 SuperCrew 4WD Ecoboost. The hitch works very well. Very little sway or bounce. I used wheel bearing grease on the sliding parts and torqued everything correctly. Still noisy in parking lots and gas stations.

PS, there is an excellent discussion thread on the Airstream site that provides a calculator for figuring out how much weight the WD hitch shifts from rear axle to front axle and trailer. See below:
