On my XLT I got the digital temperature gauge, on my new Lariat its only a bar graph. I guess I have to buy the OBD2 dongle and use ForScan to program the digital readout on my Lariat?

X2,I have a 2017 XL STX Super Crew with 3.5 Eco Boost and 10 speed auto with Max Tow Package,i think the highest I've seen the trans temp is 190 degrees!!

What's your ambient temperature where you live?
I see 192 or so after warming up but I've got to 205 towing. The transmission temp has never been an issue..yet.. The ECT on the other hand can get high quick with boost being applied.

This time of year anywhere from mid 40's to maybe 90!!I have to drive quite a bit today Monday i'll let you know what the outside temps were and trans tempswere are later on!!Do you have the Max Tow Package?

Not the actual package from Ford. My 2017 actually now has everything except 36 gallon tank and plus a few upgrades that the Max tow had at the same time. My temp is right there similar to others where I live. I'll have temps in the 100s this week so it's already mucho caliente here in West Texas

I've been watching mine and in 90-95 degree heat it is staying at 192. I really only watch when towing my 30 ft travel trailer these days and really never had issues with transmission temps. The ECT is one to watch though

This past weekend pulling my toyhauler fully loaded (~8,000 lbs) up to Payson, AZ from Mesa, AZ, I saw temps reach 226* on the ascent. My house is around 800 ft elevation, Payson is about 5,000 over the course of 68 miles. Ambient external temp was 100* when I left. Coming back down I never saw anything over 215*. I believe anything up to 230/240 is safe, but from what I understand the truck will put you into de-power mode if temps on anything get too hot. On the second pass (Mt Ord) a coolant temperature message popped up on my dash letting me know my truck was decreasing power to decrease engine temps...which was kind of irritating, because the analog temp gage was just a hair to the right of the middle position. It was nowhere near the hot side, but just a smidge to the right of middle, whereas normally it's a smidge to the left of middle. Overall though, it pulled very well (3.5 10spd), despite 6mpg on the way up @ 68-70mph.
