Trailer max weight calculator - did I get it right?
After reading a dozen threads on "can I pull this trailer" and then talking to the Ford Customer Care rep (who actually gave me some bad info at first), I put everything together that I learned. Then, because I'm kind of a nerd, I put a spreadsheet together to make my life simpler. I thought maybe other folks might like simple so I'm attaching the spreadsheet and asking for feedback. If I got something wrong, I'll correct it. If it is good as it stands, feel free to use it to your hearts content.
Here's what my thoughts were going into this - everyone seems to know that GCWR - GVWR = max trailer weight. Also, most people look at the chart in the F150 brochure for their truck and it says you have 9300# (for my truck) or whatever for max trailer weight. If you do the quick math that pretty much shows that number doesn't include you, anything in your truck and the trailer fully loaded must weigh that much or less. My spreadsheet lets you fill in the gaps and gives a final result on whether you are overloading your truck (exceeding GVWR) and/or whether you are able to pull that shiny new trailer you want to get.
I created the spreadsheeet in OpenOffice Calc but it seemed like I couldn't upload that file type so I converted it to Excel. If it isn't working right let me know and I'll try to fix it.

Travel trailer tongue weight is usually 13 to 15 percent of the trailer weight. You indicate a 7500 pound trailer with a tongue weight of 550. 7500 x 13% is 975 pounds. Correct the tongue weight on your spreadsheet and you will find you are over your payload limit, and either need to remove cargo, get a smaller trailer, or go to a Heavy Duty Payload Package truck.

My bad there velosprout - I put all my current trailers info in there and then I started putting in my "future" trailer info in - now it's a mixed message.
However, those fields are for your/each individuals trailer info. I tried to lock all the sum cells leaving only the data entry cells selectable but the conversion to XL from Calc seems to have killed that ability. Put your rigs info in there and let me know if it makes sense
