I just got back from a camping trip this weekend and it was the first time I've used my new to me truck to tow. It has the factory brake controller and even at 10 when I manually apply the brakes it cant even hold the truck from idling forward. My last truck and aftermarket controller could lock the trailer wheels up. Why would the factory one be so weak?

The dealer stated that there was no trouble found in the trailer brake control system. I thought there was still a problem when I was unable to hear the electromagnet buzz when applying the foot brake when I was parked. Pulled out yesterday for a 170 mile ride to The Villages in Florida. Trailer brakes definitely worked. I had to make a semi Panic stop approaching a red light at 25 miles per hour in the rain. The ABS kicked in and with the help of the trailer brakes, the whole rig stopped just in time.WHEW!!! Thinking back about this problem, I do believe the solution was disconnecting the battery and resetting the system.

Whew!! Scary stuff! Praise God you are ok and stopped! I haven’t tried the battery reset since I replaced the battery last year after I got my camper. The truck sat over night with out a battery I would think it did it then. But heck I’ll try it. Thanks for the update! And safe travels home!
