You still might want to check the tongue weight, I believe the hitch is only rated at 500 lbs without a weight distribution hitch. Other than that it looks good, I wouldn’t worry about the 1.5” drop.

You are right it is rated 500 dead weight / 1k /w a WD. I really dont want to put a WD on the boat trailer if I don't have to. The front post on the trailer can also be moved to put more of the boat over the trailer axles but really cant do that until we can get her back in the water.

The boat and the lake for that matter are about 2 hours from home. Figure one weekend when I am bored, or need a break from the wife, I will run down and actually put the coupler on a scale.

Thanks again for all the help, this is my first truck, BMW's before this. Bit of a change but the Ford interior is as nice if not nicer than any BMW I have driven.

Beg, borrow or steal 3 nice boat jack stands (adjustable) and head down to the scales! Won't need the water to monkey around with the load situating on your trailer!

Hat doesn't look bad at all. I wouldn't waste the time/money on a WD hitch for that load.

I won't lie, the idea of taking the boat off the trailer and putting it on stands outside the water freaks me out more than towing the trailer down to the launch ramp /w the tongue weight a bit over.

Two on the stern corners...the strongest part back there and one on the keel (arguably THE strongest part of the hull) just before it rises to the bow is awesomely stable!!! It's done here all the time with all types of boats...from 16' to 45"+! Even sailboats are done in a similar way. It's a bit more difficult....but powered boats are easy. THEN the owners are even on them, in them, banging on them, cooking on them....and even sleeping on them!

So....all you have to do is jack the boat just enough to move the trailer back and forth under the trailer....you're golden!!! Here we have it easy. I can go to the government scales on the weekends....and could do that right ON the scale!

I'm sure thats amazing to watch, I am also sure I would crap myself doing it to my boat that I am still paying the bank for.

The ramp is literally 5 miles from our storage facility. Don't think we go over 30mph during the trip. I'll just go that route

Boat trailers should have 7% tongue weight so that would be $483lbs for your boat. I wouldn't put a WD on it. I also wouldn't worry about the 1.5 inch drop.

Timbrens, cheap and a 20 minutes install

Always there when you need them and no air leaks to worry about

1.5" drop is nothing, though

Even with my trucks options, I have had 2400-2600 in the bed.........truck did great
