I have a 2018 Super Crew 3.5 Ecoboost and pull an 8000lb 5th wheel with no problems, go to theraces in Pennsylvania and keep up with traffic or am passing on some of the hills, keep constant cruising speed between 65-70mph. I also have max payload package.
I also have a Super cab work truck supplied to me with a 3.3L, I do commercial HVAC so I carry a lot of tools, after it was loaded it had to have helper springs installed and I notice it lacks the power my Ecoboost has.
I was very skeptical of the Ecoboost, but I too did a pile of research before buying it, and I cannot get over the fuel efficiency when not towing, and the ppower available when towing, it obviously uses more fuel when towing, but works great!
