Towing Question
When I hitch-up my Jayco RV trailer the truck automatically recognizes that a trailer is attached. I went thru following all steps, naming trailer, setting parameters etc. Towed from New Jersey to Maine getting 11.5 mpg ( which was great compared to my Tundra 8.5mpg) and loving the 36 gallon tank needing to stop for gas one time.
Now to my question. I had 1/2 tank of gas when I arrived and I DID NOT go back into the menu and changing to "No trailer attached. I drove all around without the trailer and when checking my gas mileage at the next fill-up it showed only 13.5 mpg.
On an earlier trip I DID go into the menu and selected "no trailer attached" I also had approx 1/2 tank of gas and my mpg's got much better (18 mpg).
Can anyone explain what is going on when you drive WITHOUT a trailer and the only difference is when "no trailer" and "trailer attached" is selected.

The menu has A DTE mode for towing and not towing. Once Towing is complete it still takes time to get the average back up. If you toggle between the two choices the DTE is significantly different. This may have been why it recognizes the lower MPGs. Just a thought
