Wow. . Take a deep breath and relax. Poor behavior?? I've never said in ANY of my posts that the 5.0 is bad. I'm sorry that you are offended by my opinion of it not being quite the POWERHOUSE you claim it to be. If my memory serves my right it was you in all the Ecoboost threads with all your pickuptrucks.com info claiming the 5.0 is the better choice. So stop getting your undies in a bunch.

Go back and read some of what you have posted, if you dont think you sound like a fanboy/hater then you are worse off than anyone thinks.

As for effect on mpg, the higher the speed, the more the impact of frontal area on mpg. At some point, it becomes a bigger factor than weight.

HEMI FOR THE WIN!!!! Anybody??? No???

Just trying to break the ice a bit... because at the end of the day they are all fully capable and all working within their designed specifications. Who cares what mill you run? If it gets the job done...

I looked at a 2014 and the sticker states the truck has a 6 speed with tow mod. Is this the same as max tow package?

We routinely tow 6-8000 lbs with 250 &350 since the handling and comfort is orders of magnitude better than any HD payload max tow 1\2 ton truck. It is especially nice for us since we have lots of young, inexperienced drivers who rotate in and our quickly. Safety first.
While a heavier truck will help, the biggest difference is the LT tires and the stiffer suspension, both the Heavy half and the 3/4 ton have. Less rocking and bouncing when hooked up to the trailer.

The heavy half would have better performance due to acceleration, stopping, and handling due to its lighter weight when not towing, and better acceleration and speed stability when towing.

*edit* nevermind. I reread this and decided there are too many variables for me to comment. Carry on
