Of course this was without hills or any wind (which is very rare). Normally get between 10.5 and 11.0 mpg.

For a heavier trailer, I think this 5.0L coupled with the heavy duty payload package, Ford Tow mirrors and Ford TBC would be one hek of a truck for towing at a very reasonable price. Actually it'll have better performance compared to a F250 6.2L due to it's lighter weight.
I just got back from a 2 week trip to the Green Mountains in Vermont. But mine was a 4.5 hour ride to the campground. I really wouldn't get to excited over an all time high of 11.5 mpg that was only from a 45 minute ride on flat roads. I'm towing about 1500lbs more than you and i averaged 10.2 mpg while climbing 5-6% grades. But the best part was being able to climb 80% of those grades in 5th gear at 2200 rpms!

Now that's a POWERHOUSE for ya!!!!

I called about trading to an Ecoboost. Had 3.73, (non Max tow), 10K more miles. They wanted 4K difference.. To much for me right now, but my next one will more than likely be an Ecoboost.. I really wish they would figure out an ecoboost for the F250, as I'm not interested in the 6.2 and definitely no diesel in my future.

Yeh, my previous trip was about 5.5 hours through high winds and hills and still got 11.0 mpg. Never got lower than 10.5 mpg.

It's the frontal surface area that gets you, not so much the weight. A measily extra 1500 lbs is nothing. My previous 19BH weighed 1500 lbs less and no better mpg pulling that because it had the same frontal surface area.

Those grades are a joke next to 30 mph head winds, especially with the Jay Flights Larger than most, frontal surface area.

The best part when I was pulling through those thunder storms and high humidy, was that I had no fear of my truck stalling out from condensation.

the money they still want for the EB f150's is just silly. Especially when you're looking for specific configurations like max tow. I flew to Dayton Ohio to get my EB F150 after selling my 5.0 locally. It was one of 5 in a 500 mile radius that wasn't priced ridiculously. It was worth the trip though, got exactly what I wanted.

Note: I didn't buy new, it is a 2013 with 6500 miles on it, so about as new as you can get. Original owner took the hit plus added spray in liner and remote start, saved me $15k over buying "new".

I'd trade mine in for a $4000 premium and buy a Chevy 6.2 today. And I've never had problems with mine and it gets great mileage and is the smoothest most powerful truck I've ever had. But $4000 bucks is nice pocket change. The ecoboost is a $2000 upgrade at best. I only paid $1000 more for mine since I cross shopped identical trucks with each motor at 2 dealerships.

I think your 5.0 might have a different opinion about that extra measly 1500lbs. I'm sure your trailer has no more frontal surface than mine and the grades certainly wouldn't be a joke when you get to higher elevations. Your poor naturally aspirated engine will be gasping for air and it certainly will not be the POWERHOUSE you claim it to be!!

P.S.- 3 yrs of ownership and not a single problem.. Until the new Nissan or Toyota comes out with the 5.0 Cummins diesel the Ecoboost IS the BEST towing 1/2 on the road. Period!! Don't be Haten !

It may be that the 5.0 was marked down more by the dealer (or the 3.5 price was raised). When I got mine the official price difference was $750 but when I was looking at dealers in a 200 mile radius the real difference was more.

No clue. $2000 is about the most if be willing to pay for the upgrade. But even then I'd think long and hard about the 5.0 and it could go either way.

Your the only hater here, responding to every 5.0L positive post put out, and harassing with how bad the 5.0L is. Your something else. Surprised you haven't been ban yet, but I guess your poor behavior is something that's tolerated.
