Towing loaded car hauler question;

I tried A WDH one time on a half ton gmc with a car hauler trailer. I could not tell any difference except that I hated hooking it up.
But most of my towing is less than 10 miles one way. Anyway just like I thought everyone said what is the difference of a WDH and just backing up your load a foot . This takes weight of the rear too. I prefer air bags to WDH if I need to level here out.
I am just not convinced that WD works in every situation regardless of the trailer weight. I have been towing tractors and jeeps for 30 years and have developed a pretty good eye for a properly loaded truck and trailer. I am sure there is a place for WDH
But I don't think you can just say 5000 yes 4900 no.

I will be hauling my car on a 2600+ mile roundtrip in my enclosed 24' trailer later this summer. Total loaded trailer weight should be right around 8000lbs. Like I mentioned earlier the WDH made a big difference when hooked to my F150.
That being said, a buddy of mine said I could borrow his truck for this trip if I wanted to. His is a 2008 F350 4x4 powerstroke crew cab. I used his truck when I originally picked up the trailer and it pulled it effortlessly when empty (4800lb empty weight).
If I use his, I shouldn't need any WDH stuff, correct?
